In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just the space of six months. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix to Despacito (2017) popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma in Medellin (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was a concern for some performers during the year the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted method.
